Faux Cat Sayings

I let the cat out of the bag!

Yeah, right! Cats are extremely independent. They will do whatever they want. Also, cats love to play in bags. It's practically a pastime for them. If the cat is in the bag, it will not get out of the bag. It may be referring to the whole new pet thing, but seriously. That guy who wrote it should have known more about cats. Unless you turn the bag upside-down and shake it, (which will result with very painful scratches) a cat will never willingly come out of a bag.

Curiosity killed the cat!

How morbid! They're telling kids not to ask questions by telling them threatening stories! Anyway, cats are usually only killed by car accidents, and I'm sure they're not wondering about what makes the engine run. It's also bad for the people who you tell that to. How would you like to be told that cats die from curiosity after you ask a harmless question? What does this dude have against cats anyway?

Did the cat get your tongue?

The closest I've ever gotten to a cat ripping my tongue out was when a cat scratched my cheek (long story). Cats have a kind but independent nature, and would never rip someones mouth apart. The more correct way to say it would be "Did the rabid polar bear get your tongue?" It's more likely that a harmless kitten tearing your tongue out. Once again, a so-called "wise" saying is putting cats in a bad light.
